• Camping at Hueston Woods State Park Ohio

Introduction

This post is a guide to camp at Hueston Woods State Park. This state park campground is located few miles north of Oxford, the hometown of Miami University. The campground has 200+ electric campsites, flush toilets and shower. 
This is a family friendly campground, with a play area, many easy hiking trails around and nearby mini beach. It is one of the few campgrounds in Ohio, that offers free WIFI. City access is very good. Oxford is about 15 minutes drive, you can stroll through the city and dine at restaurants in the High Street. Walmart is even closer, just 10 minutes drive from the campsite. It is very convenient to buy milk, ice, meat and other camping essentials.

Enterance

Oxford, Ohio is  the closest town, just few miles away. City is Hamilton is about 25 minutes drive. 

Campground Store & Check-in

Here is where you check-in. They give a tag for your car. The camp store has camping essentials. 

Center Circle

You enter through the center circle. A & B row are in the right side wing, and are mostly for RV campers. C-G rows are in the left wing and for tent campers.

Flush Toilet and Shower

Two Shower houses are located in  Row B and in Row F. Row B shower house is a bit modern and cleaner.

Play Area

A nice play area is in the B row.

Turkey Vulture

There are plenty of Turkey Vultures. Caution, they can open lids and eat your food.

Gallion Run Trail

Gallion Run Trail entrance is in the B row. It is a moderate biking trail, other end is near the camp store. You can hike as well, though watch for bikers and leave way.

Haiku Trail

Haiku Trail is an easy kids friendly hiking trail, with Haiku poems on the trees. It is peaceful and quiet, 0.7 miles long. From the campground entrance, take a left and drive 4 miles.

Oxford City

Oxford City is the home of Miami University. The weekend that we went, it was very festive, like this.

Acton Lake Beach & Marinara

There is a beach, where kids can spend hours. Next to it is a Marinara, where you can rent or launch your own boat.

Haiku Trail

Haiku Trail is an easy kids friendly hiking trail, with Haiku poems on the trees. It is peaceful and quiet, 0.7 miles long. From the campground entrance, take a left and drive 4 miles.
